Black dragon Holden Antaeus isn’t looking for a mate. His life is filled with family, work, and dating. Women adore him and he’s never short of offers for sex, but a relationship isn’t something he’s interested in. When Holden’s brother Sean hires a new executive for Antaeus International, Holden’s whole world, and everything he’s ever believed about himself, is blown to bits. Garret Renquist is a green dragon, intelligent, witty, bi-sexual, and hot for Holden. Despite the fact that Holden is positive he’s heterosexual, the moment he meets Garret, something happens inside him. What follows is a journey through stereotypes and ingrained beliefs as Holden struggles with the fact that his destined mate is a man.

Warning:  This book contains two handsome dragons, one meddling brother, three matchmaking friends, a mock battle in shifted form, and hot sex between two sexy men who make the hot springs boil!

“Lex Valentine is a gifted writer as she creates a world for her dragons that is so real I could taste and feel it. Her writing is engaging, vibrant and fresh and her characters are incredibly three dimensional and larger than life. She does an excellent job on Holden by showing his difficulty as a straight man in accepting that his mate is male, and the fight for dominance between his dragon and his human side, in addition to the difference between emotional acceptance of his mate and sexual expression between him and Garret both as dragons and men. This makes for a complex relationship between them, and Holden’s slow recognition of his future, which would have been alien just days ago, is done so well that I could almost see his gears changing as his and Garret’s emotions begin to bleed into each other’s minds and hearts.”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for the message in this story. It’s good to know that other people believe that it doesn’t matter what package love comes in as long as it’s received. Fire Season by Lex Valentine has some of the most romantic dialogue out of any romance—be the main characters heterosexual or homosexual—that I’ve ever read. My favorite example is: “If you know what I’m thinking then just do it, Garret, ’cause the gods know I can’t yet.” Context is everything, and when you read that quote, imagine a man who is scared to death to admit he has feelings for someone but is man enough to reach out for help. Doesn’t it make you swoon?”

ParaNormal Romance Reviews says:

“I read books one and two in this series, both of which were really good, so I just had to read this third book. I have to say, I am happy that I did. This is the only book in the series that is m/m, but the love and passion was just as powerful, if not more so, than the first two books… I am impressed by Lex Valentine’s ability to create a vibrant world filled with realistic characters, giving them very real human emotions.”

Joyfully Reviewed says:

“Author Lex Valentine gives us a difficult scenario and then deftly writes an emotionally charged, complex tale. Fire Season is deliciously erotic and – just as important – makes you ponder the possibilities.  Fire Season is a smoking hot blast of a story.”

Rated: 5 Stars by Elisa Rolle- My Reviews and Ramblings:

“The story is a good mix of sex, paranormal and even funny moments (I really like the in dragon form teasing scene, even if they don’t arrive to really have sex in shifting form, don’t worry). Again, I recommend it to who likes the paranormal genre (all the “mating” related matter…)”

RTPNORSQ“Lex Valentine is an author that deserves more recognition than she gets. Fire Season is book 3 of her Tales of the Darkworld series and her first M/M book. The first two books were good…this book is even better. Not released in chronological order, each book can be read independently of each other. It’s full of heart and with enough going on to keep you totally enthralled from start to finish. She is definitely someone that you should pick up and read. I know you will not be disappointed in her world…I never am.”

Rated: 5 Kisses by Talking Two Lips Reviews!

Fire Season is the third book in the Tales of the Darkworld series and one of the hottest Lex Valentine has written. I love the emotion and draw this novel has…When these two men get together there is such chemistry I think my fingers were scorched reading this one! When you want a very well written novel that has the emotional pull of true romance you want Fire Season. Though this novel is third in a series it can be read alone and really enjoyed to its fullest. I would suggest, because Lex Valentine has such real talent as a writer, to read this series in order as you really will have some great reading ahead of you.”

Love knows no boundaries as Ms. Valentine characters Holden and Garrett discover… There is so much love and angst between these two men. I couldn’t help but fall under their spell. Lex Valentine is created a fan for life in me.”

“The author has created a distinctive and intriguing world around her characters. I also liked the fact that these characters are dragon shifters. The insight that the reader gains into the history and society of the dragons is interesting and adds another layer to the story.”

Rated: 4 stars by Rainbow Reviews

“This was a very good paranormal love story in the gay-for-you plot family. Not terribly unique in all its points but enough so that it didn’t feel tired and certainly held my attention. As usual in gay-for-you plots, one main character is more experienced than the other and someone always says “I’m not gay” but, those two cliches aside, the blossoming relationship between the men was well written and interesting. There is a scene in their shifted form that was quite touching in a mostly non-sexual way.”

Rated: 4 Angels by Fallen Angel Reviews

Fire Season is a fun story with steamy love scenes, dragon’s romping around the forest, and an entertaining secondary cast of characters. I look forward to reading more from this series.”

FIRE SEASON is a wonderful blend of strong alpha males, scorching hot sex and stereotypes that are shattered amid the pages. This is an author who goes under the typical stereotypes and ends up with a story the reader will fall in love with. The pace is fast, the action is hot and the storyline sucks you in with each page. Lex Valentine is a wonderful storyteller who delves in the world of the Darkworld and shares a story that will leave you breathless and longing for more.”

I really enjoyed Lex’s first two books in the Tales of the Darkworld series… but this one took flight and left me breathless… This is a riveting, fascinating, fall-in-love-with-the-heroes story that is sure to please the romantic as well as those who enjoy a HOT and steamy erotic romp.”

Book Lovers Inc says:

“It was a challenge for me to read an m/m and boy! (no pun intended) was I glad I took the leap of fate and read Fire Season.  It just drew me in like any other romance novel would, nonetheless it being two heroes falling in love with each other.

It surprised me at how much I loved reading the sex scenes between these two alpha males. Maybe it was the way the author wrote the soul aching angst between them that drew me in, however it could also be I lucked out when I picked Fire Season by Lex Valentine as my first choice to read.”
