MM contemporary DADT novella
Originally published in the Honorable Silence anthology.
The specter of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell hovers ominously over the romance between former USAF Thunderbird pilots, Sebastian Marchetti and Ryder Beckett.
Sebastian Marchetti has spent his life doing two things, hiding his sexuality and flying. After leaving the USAF, Bas meets active duty pilot Ryder Beckett. Bas loves Ryder enough to be his dirty little secret. But Ryder loves his man so much he’ll risk court martial to be with Bas.
“Afterburner has a lot of heart and soul for a short story. I loved how Ms. Valentine blended the message of how hard it is to hide who you really are and the wonderful love story about Bas and Ryder, who are both honorable men that deserved a happy ending. I was cheering for them all the way and I am glad I read their story.”
“If you’re a fan of any of these authors or the military in general, this is a must-read collection.”
“Afterburner has all the ingredients of an m/m romance with plenty of sex and angst to keep things interesting. Except that the angst in this case has nothing to do with how well Bas and Ryder get along, but rather the stresses that are placed on their relationship because they cannot be out and honest about the fact that they are a couple…Afterburner provides a good balance of romance, sex and angst that I believe readers of m/m romance will enjoy.”
